What is the EOC?
The End-of-Course Examination Program (EOCEP) is a statewide assessment program of end-of-course tests for gateway courses awarded units of credit in English/language arts, mathematics, science, and social studies. The EOCEP encourages instruction in the specific standards for the courses, encourages student achievement, and documents the level of students’ mastery of the academic standards. EOCEP examination scores count 20 percent in the calculation of the student’s final grade in gateway courses, which include Algebra 1, Biology 1, English 2, and United States History and the Constitution.
Who takes the EOC test?
Any student enrolled in Algebra I, English 2, Biology 1, or US History & Constitution are required to take the End of Course Exam for the class in which they are enrolled.
Attendance and Out-of-School Functions
Students should be on time to school every day, and especially during the test dates. On time means arriving at 8:00AM for the AM Cohort, and at 12:15PM for the PM Cohort.
Parents need to make plans for students to NOT miss these days of school or be dismissed from school during these dates. This includes doctor’s appointments and any other out-of-school functions. Please make all attempts to schedule these events around the designated days and times given.
Test Security Policy for Cellphones/Electronics – also review our handbook pages 10-11 for Testing Policy.
Cell phones and smart watches are STRICTLY PROHIBITED during testing. Students will be required to turn off all cell phones and smart watches during the time of testing and place them in a designated collection box/area.
As per the South Carolina State Department of Education Test Administration Manual, “Students and their families/parents/guardians who violate this policy will have consequences including, but not limited to, the invalidation of the test score, receiving a zero on the test, suspension or expulsion from the school, an investigation by the local police or the South Carolina State Law Enforcement Division (SLED) with possible criminal charges or other civil or legal sanctions.
